my take on prep. bizarro-prep. nega-prep.
if you have neutral colors in your outfit you can get away with other items going real hard. i forget who said it (coco chanel, thanks guys!), but when you get dressed in the morning, and you have all your accessories and shit, take one thing away from our outfit. now you are good to go.
in this case, i had a tie on for a sec, and the outfit looked really busy. i decided to take the tie off and the look ended up much more clean and mature. practice that. minimalism for a week. it takes some discipline but i’m sure you’ll see where you can pull away in terms of “stuntin.” or you might find you have room to grow.
but like.
GUYS.
this jacket, came back from tailor the other day, for the third time. finally got it to a point where i like it.
heres a “style” tip: if you have a twill jacket it will not fall/drape the way you want it to.
tip#2: if you have a twill jacket with a natural shoulder you will tear your hair out trying to get it to fit you correctly.
tip#3: i think i have weird shoulders, so don’t be me.
tip#4: if you have a tailor, remember to bring him some champagne for christmas. even if he doesn’t celebrate christmas. in fact, ESPECIALLY IF HE DOESN’T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS. HAVE SOME GODDAMNED CHAMPAGNE YOU ASSHOLE.

FALL DAY 2: The Corduroy Jacket
Leaves are changing, temperature is dropping, sun is setting earlier, your girl keeps complaining about her pumpkin spice latte, and your ipod keeps shuffling to arcade fire. Things are slowly slipping out of your control. A lesser man would buckle at the pressure, but you are no normal man. You are a blogger. Take the day by the horns and put on that goddamned corduroy jacket.
This one happens to be from Rugby. Side vents, 3 button stance, suede elbows, tab collar, blah blah blah. If its too hot for that Harris tweed jacket you just bought, bust out a corduroy jacket. Layer it over a sweater, over a denim jacket, over a puffy vest. Wear it with a rep tie and go full prep. Wear a supreme hat and wait for Tommy Ton. Wear em with cargo pants and wait for the #menswear tag. Your options are only limited by your imagination young blogger.
I recommend starting with one in tan/camel and then expanding from there. You already have a blue blazer right? Of course you do.

in honor of the end of summer im wearing the outfit i rocked the most these past 3 months. super light fabrics so i dont sweat too much when im killing it in a dancebattle.
this is also the only shirt i have in green. actually its the only item i own in green. unless were including the stacks i stash, because in that instance, I NEED A NEW SAFE CUZ IM RUNNING OUT OF SPACE (insert rick ross grunt)
have a happy and safe labor day. ill be working all day and night monday. irony? perhaps. injustice? definitely.

this shirt has a hilarious lining. i found it in a sale rack at gap this spring. make sure your outfit is plain jane if you wear a shirt w contrasting patterns. unless you like the attention, and i do, so i wear white bucks. because i can handle the spotlight. put it on me, give me the mic, turn the bass up in my headphones.
the silentist posted a reminder that there is a finite amount of time left for white shoe appropriate weather. so get it in.
happy tuesday. and what up to all my new followers. i appreciate the attention. haha.

pretty rare that wear something sized large. but today decided to go for the baggy thang. that real drapey shit. sort of.
i dont know how many of you broad shouldered skinny waisted bros are out there but this is one solution to style a slightly fuller bodied shirt. it helps if its patterned as well.
additionally, this fall im gearin’ up to try some next level shit with my wardrobe. on some real #menswear shit. that rebloggable shit. the shit that make park&bond go cray. the shit that make the haters go hay. the shit that makes your girl go *____*.
this ties in to the recent #mensW(e)AR concerning the topic “dressed by the internet/for the internet.” to which i reply, yes, its great getting reblogs, however, i would be wearing this anyways, even if I never left my apt.
but if i cant use my personal blog to express myself aesthetically where can i? i might crash and burn, but at least im creating content instead of reblogging posts and dropping bombs on people cataloging their evolving style. be a teacher, not a hater. either way, you lucky ducks get to watch.
cheers to constructive criticism,
alex
